It depends on the shirt and the occasion.

Plus if a guy has body hair and wears a belt, the shirt must be tucked in or the belt will snag the belly hair. Not good.

Tucked in, I work around equipment all the time and flapping fabric is dangerous, it can get you killed if it is caught up in a PTO or other moving part.

Used to always be in. I was squared away, even as a "hippie"! For the last number of years, & a bit extra about the middle, out! Even often dress shirts! & I often wear a vest unbuttoned over that!
