Is America & its citizens hated or loved by Earth inhabitants around the world?

Here are good reasons for America to be hated -
the murderous sanctions imposed against numerous countries.
Non involved countries are enforced into compliance as a result of the American bully's threat of doing the same to any country breaking the embargos -

[original.antiwar.com]

To quote from the report:

"In recent years, the U.S. government has turned starvation into official policy. Determined to force hostile states to bend to its will, Washington increasingly imposes economic sanctions, using America’s financial dominance to penalize foreign individuals, companies, and even governments. "

"Among its prime targets were Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and Venezuela. The objective was to wreak economic destruction – and the policy succeeded in that sense. These nations all suffered increased hardship. Yet the people who suffered the most were at the bottom economically. Regime elites usually lost some access to excess, including foreign bank accounts and the luxuries which depended on those funds."

"Moreover, in not one case did the Trump administration achieve its political ends. Communists, including nominally retired Raul Castro, still run Cuba. Tehran refused to surrender its foreign policy to Washington. North Korea’s Kim Jong-un did not make his nuclear weapons available for transport to the US In Syria Bashar al-Assad refused to yield power. So, too, Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro. Washington 0, Rogue States 5."

"As has become common, Washington applied its rules to everyone else on the planet, effectively cutting Syria off from much of the world economy."

"Jeffrey was refreshingly honest in admitting that sanctions were intended to hurt Russians, not help Syrians: "My job is to make it a quagmire for the Russians." The Syrian people were but a convenient means to an administration policy end. If that meant prolonging their suffering even after the guns had stopped firing, so be it."

"Madeleine Albright is responsible for a string of arrogant and thoughtless comments on foreign policy. Perhaps her most famous gaffe – that is, telling an inconvenient truth – was her response to a question about the death of a half million Iraqi babies due to sanctions: "We think the price is worth it," she said. That extraordinarily callous attitude evidently persists in Washington today regarding Syria."

"Diplomacy should be the main tool with which Washington addresses the world. That might frustrate US officials, since they would lose their ability to play Masters of the Universe. However, America as global dictatress has not delivered the sort of peaceful order that Washington policymakers claim to desire."

"Joe Biden ran for president as an advocate of human rights. Yet he, like Trump, has cruelly sacrificed the interests foreign peoples, such as those in Syria, to score political points. America should do better."

The author of the above is not an RT contributor nor is the article published by that media organisation. The author "Doug Bandow is a Senior Fellow at the Cato Institute. He is a former Special Assistant to President Ronald Reagan and the author of several books, including Foreign Follies: America’s New Global Empire."

Wrongly many Americans think that not only is their country doing the correct thing but that they have the right to do it to others - particularly nonxtians, socialists & communists!

Furthermore pointing out the error of their ways is not a an act of love extended to them but the expression of hatred.

Is pointing out the error of their ways to Americans an act of love or hatred?

The down side of democracy is that all the people suffer the government that only a majority of the voting adults deserve.

Not that the USA has been an actual democracy for quite some time now

A democracy before Lincoln.

Has any so called democracy other than the Viking thing ever been truly a democracy? And considering that Vikings were in the habit of keeping slaves I question their democracy.

Another stoush that I had with my effete english teacher Trahearne was my questioning his insistance that ancient Greece had the first democracy. The teenage FB chirped up & said "but they have slaves who are not allowed to vote! Therefore it cannot be a democracy. QED" said with all the scornful inflection that I could put into my long practiced voice used to goad my 6 years elder bullying & more intelligent brother!

@FrayedBear You are quite right there were many democracies before ancient Greece they just were not called such and many were more akin to what we define as a democracy today.

Many people think the word democracy comes from the Greek Demos (The citizenry) IT DOES NOT, it comes from Demo (the district)
Demo apo Demos Δήμος ανά Δήμο the Municipality of the Citizens
The aspiration of those who claim to want a democracy in the modern sense are actually craving an anthropocracy direct rule by the people

The Greek Demo Kratos meant rule by districts, meaning that each district of a city state sent one person to sit in the city chancellery of elders each chosen by the Free, property owning, Men of that said district.
It had nothing to down with elections, one person one vote, canvassing or campaigning.

All the trimmings we see today are corruptions of earlier systems tied to Greek representative Demo Kratos to produce the highly manipulable and fixable system, that gives the illusion of fair and representative government while actually functioning as a Plutocracy.

@LenHazell53 thanks for confirming what I believed but never truly went looking for as it was never important to me.

I didn't vote, just like any poll I've started I didn't see the answer I wanted.

You might say I agree with the majority of what you said. I naturally disagree that the parties are both owned by the military industrial complex. in my opinion, the far left is much stronger within the Democratic party then it is ever been in my lifetime and that precludes some of the militarism.

As far as changing the minds of the far right, can you and your wisdom recommend a way to do that? I learned a long time ago that screaming and yelling at them and telling them they are stupid or even trying to show them that other countries have better policies has been very ineffective. In fact their narrative that America is special has created much of their following. They tell their stupidest people that they're smart and win they're undying support. Democrats have never offered that lie to the voting public and that keeps us from winning often.
Face it there are stupid people in this world and telling them the truth will not win them over. I would love to hear any ideas you have regarding that task.

I cannot really comment on what lies are told by either side of politics. My experience has led me to the oft said "the only good politician is on who has been dead for 50 years".
@David1955 makes some very astute points.
Me, I'm just a recluse who for 30 of the last 40 years has hidden away from the horrors of the real world.

America has its faults but so do many other counties. For a people that everybody looks to for help, we sure see lots of vitriol, from outside and from within. Is anybody on this site going to stand up for the United States?

barjoe Level 9 July 11, 2021

Isn't that what you are blindly doing Joe?

@FrayedBear How about somebody else defend America? I don't blindly defend my country but I don't blindly attack it either.

@barjoe Shrugs.

Too preoccupied with their hopeless lives to care.

Never a truer word spoken in jest?

But isn't it stupid?

@FrayedBear I wasn't speaking 'in jest.' 90% of the world is a wasteland (counting the deserts). If the typical poor person living in squalor thinks of the USA at all, it's a paradise they would go to if they only could.
It's not our fault (sometimes) if their governments are futilely corrupt, incompetent, or in the throes of some ridiculous ideology.
That describes us too, of course, which only goes to show how great things would be if the whole world was run by computers.

@Storm1752 Didnt Asimov write the story or was it Clarke?

@FrayedBear Asimov? Forget the name of the trilogy.
Asimov wrote about everything.

@Storm1752 Clarke if I remember rightly gave the world satellites used for communication purposes:
[en.m.wikipedia.org]
"the geostationary orbit 36,000 kilometres (22,000 mi) above the equator is officially recognised by the International Astronomical Union as the Clarke Orbit."
Apparently one of Clarke's books was used to result in the USA striving to reach the moon "His 1951 book, The Exploration of Space, was used by the rocket pioneer Wernher von Braun to convince President John F. Kennedy that it was possible to go to the Moon."
Asimov was famous for the Robot laws which have subsequently been ignored.

Most people don't hate Americans, just American government's policies.

There's a difference?

Good article. Unfortunately accompanied by a silly poll.

Got to introduce some levity to offset the horror of the facts?
