The Greeks and Romans knew this thousands of years ago. Pablum for the masses. The Greeks, however, actually had arts for free (paid by the rich) as well. They fell to the Romans who gave everyone WWE with real deaths.

Sports for those with the metaphorical blue collars.

For those with white collars, taking money from taxpayers is the greatest distraction. For those with Roman collars, it’s children and religion.

Yep. Sports, arts, nationalism, there are lots of pseudo religions out there designed to reprogram the population in to acceptance, and compliance.
