Let me paraphrase an absolutely true statement by Adam Schiff:
It is not true that power corrupts. It merely reveals the corruption that already exists within the character of a person or group.
Any sane person can apply that to our political crisis today.
And if the desire to seek power, is often driven by the desire for the fruits of corruption, or the sort of things that can also come from corruption. Then you would expect there to be a more than average number of corrupt people in power.
No proof offered. Just saying, you can make your own judgment on it.
