We've been vegetarian for 20 years but meat substitutes have never been any significant part of our diets.
Still I'm pleased to see Mickey D's head this direction.
Good news.
It's okay to still have real meat... just not outrageously much.
I gave up beef and pork when they removed my gall bladder over ten years ago. Don't really miss them. I have found healthy substitutes that are fine.

I still eat meat though not often.
I recently gave up eating fish regularly.
It is necessary to substitute equivalent foods for meat and dairy.
@AnonySchmoose l eat fish, chicken, and turkey. I drink a lot of no fat milk and eat some yellow cheeses. I noticed when l gave up prk and beef my digeation was better, and meals without pork or beef set much lighter on my stomach.

For me, there is a difference in how my body feels.
I feel calm, breath better, and have more energy for exercise.
