At least they didn't get killed in Granite Falls.
Falling trees can have that effect. Here in Australia there are certain types of trees that can without notice drop large branches that can kill [seedlandscapes.com.au] - drop bears have nothing on them. [australian.museum]

Is that why it is called Fall City?
Yeah. This is turning out to be a bad one. The Weather service says a strength five cyclone. Pointed right at Washington State.
@PondartIncbendog Here cyclones are not needed for branches to fall. The country is also renowned for being riddled with termites.
@FrayedBear Yeah. Granite Falls is right down the highway. I think I would move out of that area.
