He's leaning hard on his Christian nationalist fantasies.
Unfortunately it may not be a fantasy.
He may be one of the Christocrats, or someone like him in North Carolina or elsewhere, who either get elected legitimately, or appointed by fiat by a Republican-controlled election commission, stacked with partisans and empowered to overrule election results under the pretext of voter fraud.
Then once conditions are right, state and local governments, and eventually the federal government, could instill permanent one-party rule and legislate however they wished, no longer accountable to the Democratic process.
That’s the ultimate goal. Trump was just a test run. And if he doesn’t face conviction it just emboldens them to work harder with little to fear from the Feds.
@Barnie2years Bingo. And it might already be too late. By his opposition to the voting rights legislation, Manchin has allowed the some 28 (?) Republican-led states to establish autocratic beachheads, from where they can expand as opportunities present themselves.
And if it hasn't happened already, Republicans will soon have permanent governing majorities in both houses of Congress, and most states.
Welcome to the new one-party Christian Theocracy. Be prepared to show proof of allegiance to Christ and his agenda, or be sent to re-education camp.
This idiocy is what started and prolonged the last Civil War. The death toll from a second on would be catastrophic, and that’s assuming foreign actors didn’t get involved (China, Russia, Iran etc).
