"The James Webb Space Telescope lifted off on an Ariane 5 rocket from Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana, at 13:20 CET [ 7:20 ET ] on 25 December. In the coming month, Webb, an international partnership between NASA, ESA and the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), will travel to its destination: the second Lagrange point (L2), where it will study the Universe in infrared." Question: What discoveries do you hope to learn about from the Webb?
WHERE IS WEBB?
@FearlessFly
Thanks... This is good data to know.

@FearlessFly
Thanks... I know others who'd like to know.
We all woke up just to watch liftoff
The launch was the first event we celebrated today.
What a fabulous gift it is too!
Fingers crossed...
I hear the JWST mission was designed to last 10 years,
but if things go wrong it'll be more like 5 years.
Let's hope it'll send data longer than 10 years.
This is what's known around the halls of NASA as a "high anxiety" project. Because most of it has never been done before, and there are so many things that COULD go wrong. But it sounds like everybody has planned and executed very well, double and triple checked everything. One NASA guy this morning said there are still 34 things that could go wrong. I'm surprised it isn't more. I'm just itching to see some images.
Awesome accomplishment
Santa really delivered this time!
Amazing! I love the idea of this exploration.
The discoveries will be amazing... magical... yet scientific!
