Here is an old piece I wrote a couple of years ago. I was browsing my "Word" files and saw it. I thought I'd re-post it. It applies not only to Trump, but to all of those who would follow him.
“A Little Bit of Logic”
Who is Donald Trump? Donald Trump is a salesman, and an entrepreneur. He is not a statesman or a politician. He knows nothing about government , but he does know how to sell.
What is a salesman? A salesman is a person who lies for a living; one whose job it is to make a maximum of profit at another’s expense. In his current position, the commodity he is selling is himself.
Entrepreneur means literally “Putting between”. In his current position, Trump is putting his own personal interests between you and your expectations of an equitable symbiosis between government and society.
What is society? Society and Socialism, of course come from the same root. Society means, quite simply, “the state of living in organized groups”
Why, then, do so many people admire Trump and seem to fear the prospect of living in organized groups and achieving the benefits of living in an equitable society?
One possible reason may be that one of the most prevalent occupations of the American worker is that of marketing, or sales, and it has been said that there is no one to whom it is easier to sell, than a salesman.
Could that be the reason?
This may be right though I tend to believe that many of Trumps worshipers see in him all the things they love, respect, and admire... racism, bigotry, bullying, misogyny, selfishness, vulgarity, hatefulness, gross materialism and greed. Heck, Trump shares many of the same attributes as the christian god and Trump has been called a savior by some among the far right.
Yes I agree with that. ( See my comment on your last post. ) Though it should be pointed out that he was a largely failed and unsuccessful salesman and entrepreneur, who turned to politics to give himself a second chance.
Many of the wealthiest people in this country would have been failures but for our financial and legal systems that encourage any type of excess and financial maneuvering to overcome obstacles to acquisition. All you need is enough "hutzpah" in the U.S.A. and the world is your oyster. Look at Elon Musk!
