So, most people in my town socialize at church events, or at the church. What could people like us do for a similar sense of community?
I’ve enjoyed the Sunday Assembly in Boston but it’s a hike into the city that makes it something I haven’t done much. I do wish there were more local such assemblies.
Hi Melody-I live in Merrimack, NH-Locals could meet for coffee or a meal or at someone's house-meet and greet?
I feel that libraries are a good way to connect. Lots of books encompassing everyone's interests, plus movies and some events if your library is a decent one. They're quiet and unassuming, and have lots of comfy chairs. At least mine do.

I'm not saying we shouldn't try but someone once said, and I can't remember who, trying to get Atheist to organise is a lot like trying to herd cats. We as a group tend to be less community-oriented, I personally don't feel that way, but I live in Kansas City MO. and out of the handful of secular atheist that live here only a spattering of those would even be interested. I've tried going to secular events put on by atheist groups, but the largest grouping of Atheist I've witnessed were nine of us if you count the basset hound one of them brought.
I’m super lucky to have found a gaming store nearby that recently acquired the adjacent building and partnered with a local brewery to serve beer! Now we get to drink while we game and toast our victories with a mug of ale! The brewery is Lovecraft themed as well, so bonus points!
Bars are of course the classic social spot, but they can be expensive. I also spend my Saturdays st the city park. Bring a board game, a pet, or just go for a walk and perhaps make a few friends!
That’s a shame. D&D players are not known for their manners, surprisingly. What’s IRC? I use Roll20 when I can’t find a local group.
