I think of this song as being a later release but it wasn't. It was such a smash hit, the most rerecorded song in history, that it really propelled their reputation. Not that it wasn't deserved but it seems Yesterday was actually a steal but, I think, an honest one. It also might have upset the other members that Paul was getting solo air time and started some griping about the boss. Just a guess as I don't recall having read that, anywhere.
