LINK Boston Celtics great Bill Russell, 11-time NBA champion, dies at 88
I always despised him in his playing days, only because he was too good and I'm a Sixers fans. When people talk about the greatest player ever, his name rarely comes up, but he deserves consideration. Definitely the the greatest defensive player ever. He was one of the first people in sports to openly oppose Vietnam war. He was a civil rights activist and major progressive in sports. This is sad news. Bill Russell was 88.
