I have been afraid to drive for 2 years now. I couldn't read street signs even with my glasses and don't like to drive outside the neighborhood at night. I had the surgery Tuesday, tested Wed at 20/25 in the eye that was operated on and doctor told me it will improve greatly. Toric lens set for mid-range, su she said 20/20 in that eye will be great. I'm typing this on my phone without glasses for the first time since I've owned a smart phone, (2008). The other eye (left) will be a standard lens. She says most the correction was for my right eye so this lens will be free. I had to pay $1500 for the Toric premium lens and anticipated having to spent that again. That's why I was going to wait. When she told me it was going to be free, I went fast track. I'm so excited.

@Redheadedgammy I think it's a Medicare thing. I've been asking for years when I could get my cataract taken care of, they said 'not yet' but first time I went as a Medicare patient, boom, fast track. Good luck with your surgery. What kind of lens are you getting?

@barjoe I think my new lenses will correct my distance vision, but I will still need readers to read. I'm getting the cheapest as I couldn't afford the co-pay for the Lazer surgery so doctor is doing the hand surgery instead of lazer.

@barjoe You're the second person to tell me that. I was also told, why spend thousands in co-pays for a surgery that needs to be re-done in 8-10 years? I've learned a lot about cataract surgery from others that have had it, and am now glad I am getting the manual surgery instead of the Lazers.
