LINK Gods in the machine? The rise of artificial intelligence may result in new religions

For all the potential threats of AI, I confess I hadn't thought of this angle: AI as religion.

I agree with a lot of his speculation. Let's face it, some people would worship anything, if you gloss it up enough. However, I don't agree with the last part about welcoming AI religions because most religious people are peaceful and religions are sort of good. No, they are not, and religions are a drag on the human species. I'd rather people take away from AI belief in science rather bowing to talking machines.

So stand by for the AI religious. Wonderful. Just what we don't need.

Do you know of any scientific studies that indicate that “religions are a drag on the human species” or is that just a personal opinion? I would love to look at those studies if you can tell me where to find them. Thanks.

How about a dummie pants debate over whether this site is for the non religious? 😁
I haven’t found that in the rules.

AI may be good but we created AI. I think it is also safe to say that humankind created religions.

I am not in the least surprised. In fact, I've been saying that the fall of Xianity is creating a void which atheists think is just fine but it will be filled by something. Syria should have taught us that. I think it's a good idea for something benign, maybe beneficial, to fill that void before terrorism does. That's what usually fills a void, anyway.
