I am curious what everyone's background is. I'm a college student who used to work in IT. What is yours?
I'm an RN (BSN) prior to that i was a stay at home mom.
I have serious first aid skils. ";0)
ACLS, BLS and QPR certified.
Nurses are the best! My sister is an RN working on her APN, can't wait, I'm so excited for her.
Current teacher/IT. In the past, grew up in the summer helping on a farm so time with engines and fences. Did the army thing to pay for college - was really nice NOT having a debt after college - . have built some finished and rough construction, restore and build stained glass windows, auto repair, much time in theater including sound and light and paid position in a theater orchestra, also did the actor role; years of IT both hardware and software. Did some freelance as a photographer earned an award for in a newspaper the editor submitted. A primary background factor was I was lucky enough to find a fantastically brilliant friend who introduced me to science and the beauty of figuring things our and building for yourself. My (home built) home theater is a product of my background.
I’ve worked in culinary and childcare, but I’m sticking with my massage therapy career.
I finished up college and went into IT. I want to go back and get my masters and, eventually, my PhD.
Currently just doing consultant work for clients in the Central Valley of California.
Retired Navy, IT, college, commercial artist, many hats, multi cultural, poet, music lover, can dance, citizen of the world, tourist in this life. Retired!
Im a few classes short of a degree in system security...basically the ability to steal all your stuff while standing next to you in the air port...but like I recently told a co-worker, I'm digital artist, I much rather create the systems that drive the world rather then look at the output of the system someone else built. I'm currently working for an e-waste company out here in california
I've been everything from waiter to tech support specialist but am now focusing on writing my next book series. I expect to be collecting disability soon and want to be productive while I'm unable to hold permanent employment.
I'm a retired heavy equipment mechanic in beautiful Northern California. I grew up Catholic, went to church on Sundays with Grandma. I was always amazed at the architecture and stained glass windows. I never paid much attention to the sermons. Even as a child I was a non-believer
This is a bit of a call out to HeathenFarmer but I'm a Teacher/Farmer. I have a Master's degree in English and teach High School during the fall, winter, and spring. Then during the summer, my father and I manage an operation of 1500 acres of dry land farming growing mostly peas, lentils, and wheat.
My studies and my careers are described in my profile. But they don't actually matter much for me. I value only the knowledge that I acquired through them provided I can use it in my present of future projects. When I was young, I decided that I would be an inventor and a writer. But in fact, as long as I was studying or following a profession, I was wasting much of my extremely valuable time. However, I used my leisure time to read originals or translations of the works of famous French, English, American, German, Russian, Spanish and Italian writers to acquire the ability to be also a writer. I also read many other books for their useful contents. In the seventies, as a translator of military documents, I saw an opportunity to make an invention. I decided to create a military board game that would make it possible to simulate the actions of two contemporary armed forces facing each other, that is to say, two armies with chiefs of staff (players) who use the recognized principles of strategy to plan and conduct their wars. Forty-five years later, this objective has now been met. At last, at a very old age, I have realized my wish to be an inventor and a writer.
I was a soldier, a mechanic, a furniture maker, a college student, and an electronic technician. That's not counting the fields I plowed, the yards I mowed, and all that stuff when I was a kid.
I was a laborer when I was younger. Parents got sick, took care of them until they died, bit over 10 years. The emotional toll I paid, along with the physical injury I suffered doing that and the long gap between jobs made me pretty much unhirable, so I ended up in a homeless shelter for several months.
I'm psychologically way better now, but the two bulging discs in my back is still an impediment for employment in the types of jobs I have experience in, so I am back in school to finish my associates degree, and bachelor's in psychology. Hoping to get a master's in social work and then become a therapist for folks who have PTSD from childhood trauma or kids at schools for behavioral issues stemming from trauma and the inability to trust authority figures.
I'm an IT Director with a background in design, marketing, music and management.
I am an active duty Air Force clinical social worker. I presently oversee the domestic violence program at Kadena AB in Okinawa, Japan.
