House Democrats’ campaign arm compared former President Trump to Scar, the villain from the Disney movie “The Lion King,” as the presumptive GOP nominee meets with congressional Republicans.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) posted a picture of Scar and the hyenas from the Disney animated film in a release Thursday as part of a “LIVE LOOK inside the House Republicans’ meeting with the felon.”
The scene pictured shows Scar sitting on a rock and plotting the demise of Mufasa, the main character Simba’s father — as they sing the iconic song “Be Prepared.”
The former president is meeting with Republicans on Capitol Hill on Thursday. He first met with House members in the morning and will visit with GOP senators in the afternoon. It’s his first time meeting with lawmakers since being convicted of 34 counts of falsifying business records in his New York hush-money trial last month.
“Thirty four-count felon Donald Trump is addressing vulnerable House Republicans, disseminating his orders and scheming up their plans to gut Social Security, privatize Medicare, give massive handouts to the ultrawealthy, and pass a national abortion ban,” the DCCC alleged in their release.
Rep. Mark Amodei (R-Nev.) told The Hill that Trump received a few standing ovations during the House meeting, and the message of the meeting was to “vote for the team” rather than a focus on policy.
