Anyone remember Ranitidine? The drug salesman came around and told all doctors we should be on it. Past a certain age, or if you had certain symptoms or not, Ranitidine was the answer. Zantac under other names. I never really had heartburn and could eat anything I wanted but my doctor put me on Ranitidine just like all the rest. Back in the day when I still allowed that once yearly home visit I told the nurse why I was not taking this med. I simply did not need it, so I gave it to friends and relatives who did. Talking to my doctor was useless. She knew I needed it. The in-home nurse went into a sermon to convince me that I do need it. After all, if I do not have any symptoms of GERD or anything now, Ranitidine will prevent me from ever having any of them. Must be a miracle drug.
Then the bomb dropped. Somewhere they fed mice enough Ranitidine to kill a large horse or give it cancer. Everything might cause cancer anyway but if your meds do it is time for them to go. Now the drug is prescribed no more. Ads on TV from attorney groups ask if you ever took it or know anyone who did, please get in touch with them. They have this class action lawsuit going on and you might get a few bucks while the attorneys get rich.
Recently in a food line and a woman said older people should not have this drink or this food because of heartburn and GERD. My reply was that I can eat or drink anything I want to without concern. I always knew this but my doctors and makers of Ranitidine did not. Now you are gone and I barely knew you. You are reading just a bit more here on my war against Big Pharma. Maybe in time the greedy attorneys will start sueing the right people for the right reasons. Too much here about a dead horse.
It's all a game to make us sick or keep us sick enough. We're not seen as humans, just dollar sign's!
I have people in my family who were not on "a plan" and still lived a long time. Then today I just got my new Aetna mailing "Wellness and You." It has lots of BS in there like plan questions, and did you know, etc. They spend lots of money to make you think they are actually saving your life. I'm serious. That's how I look at it. They also hide money saying it is on a card for you but it is in a situation where you are not likely to really be using it.
@DenoPenno My mom has a plan like that with a card to buy necessities. She wanted to buy a home blood pressure monitor and they told her that she would have to get her doctor's permission to purchase it. Her doctor said she doesn't know anything about it.
I think they are not doing the trial testing on these medicines long enough. Big Pharma wants those big bucks so they try and crank them out as quick as they can. I remember the horrifying thalidomide side effects years ago. How that drug ever passed the FDA is a mystery to me. The side effects of some of these newer meds are crazy. Then toss in the cost of some of them. I have been on insulin and Epi-Pen since I was a kid and itβs ridiculous. I know the price of insulin has gone down recently, but they really need to crack down on the price gouging these pharmaceutical companies are doing. Itβs insane.
Googling...:
"The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) pulled Zantac off all shelves in 2020, stating that there were unacceptable levels of a probable human carcinogen: the chemical N-nitroso dimethylamine (NDMA). There are thousands of lawsuits against the drug's manufacturers,..."
"Consumers can safely buy and use Zantac 360 with famotidine wherever OTC medications are sold. The FDA hasn't found any NDMA contamination in famotidine and has deemed it a safe alternative to the old ranitidine formula."
"Importantly, ranitidine bismuth citrate suppressed SARS-CoV-2 replication, leading to decreased viral loads in both upper and lower respiratory tracts, and relieved virus-associated pneumonia in a golden Syrian hamster model."
You did some good research. My post on Ranitidine or Zantac is from the days doctors were pushed into using this med as an almost god-like "solve it all" for GERD. It was even declared that you would not need any indigestion meds for this in the future if you used it now. The drivel goes on and on. THIS WAS PUSHED ON ME AND I HAD NO INDIGESTION and still have no indigestion. I never needed it in the first place but you could not tell the doctors that. They would not listen. I still do not think they listen.
I see my doctor again on the 18th. She will not like it but I refuse to take any statins. No more for me ever. I have talked with others who made this decision and they claim their doctors want to sneakily put them back on statin drugs and you have to watch them.
