There might be a correlation between handedness and thinking ability. Please answer truthfully.
You know that left-handed people live, on average, nine years less than dextrals right?
This research was a prime example of what happens when you don't get a statistician in.
Go on - I'll let you explain what went wrong.
@Kreig No, the point is that we DON'T live shorter lives.
Relatives were asked whether their recently deceased family members were left-handed. Now, until a few decades back left-handers were forced to be right handers. So those who died a few decades back were said to be right-handers while those born, and died, recently were seen to be left-handers.
It's a statistical mistake.
For example: Suppose you research the effects of Harry Potter on longevity. Older people, who lived long lives, would not have been Harry Potter fans. But young people, recently deceased, would be more likely to be Harry Potter fans.
Conclusion: Harry Potter fans live shorter lives than non-Harry Potter fans.
I am right handed but, I have taught myself to do things with my left, it is actually a good mental exercise.
We had teachers in elementary that used to try to beat the left handedness out of children forcing them to be right handed. Many of these kids dropped out of school as soon as they legally could at sixteen; perhaps because of the educational experience they had had earlier on. They were often the most creative kids in the class and many of them actually went back to school at later in life and became quite accomplished. One actually became a software designer owning the operating systems of several packing plants and feedlots and another is the senior crime investigator for the RCMP in the province. One of my older sisters was a victim of this as well, although she also has done well for herself I have always suspected that she was emotionally damaged by the process and had this not been done to he she would have done a lot better as she is incredibly intelligent.
Thankfully this practise ended in the late 1960's and early1970's.
Right handed for most things but do do some things with my left...like dealing a pack of cards....if I use my right hand they go all over the place.
When I was a child I would use either hand to write until the 2nd grade. They had stopped the foolishness of trying to change children, but nun asked me, "Why don't you just BE right handed, Joseph?" "OK, Sister."
Over the years, I have done many things left-handed, but I still write with my right hand. And my handwriting is terrible.
I'm a lefty and I want to confirm that I get all my supernatural powers from the devil.
Mostly left-handed. Can function with right hand if necessary. Play guitar and cut with scissors are the main things I do right-handed automatically.
