Roseanne Barr, and all the other stars, news show hosts, politicians, etc. that have lost their jobs because of something they said or did off the cuff were all fired because their behavior did not "reflect the values" of the people or companies they worked for. This is not true with Samantha Bee. Her comments were scripted, the show was video taped in advance, it was shown in it's entirety, uncut and uncensored, and after the show TBS posted it proudly on the front page of their website. Apparently, what Ms. Bee said, as repugnant as it was, clearly does reflect the values of TBS.
Jim Jeffries has been using the word for years instead of asshole, shithead,...
And by using the word in general it looses its derogatory nature as it pertains to women.
This is no comparison to the evil of Rosanne's mentality.
Totally agree that this is nowhere near the same level of disgust as Roseanne's is. She's been on a racist tyrade for years and it's completely unacceptable. But I don't agree that the word Sam used has denegrated in the slightest, even if Jim Jefferies (or anyone else) uses it a lot. The word to me is every bit as offensive as the 'N' word, if not more. Netither should be used by anyone, anytime!
@Jacar Words count!
And calling people c-u-Next-Tuesdays is part of Samantha's normal routine. Those complaining have never watched her show and only sought her out so they could attempt to point out what they consider equivalent behavior to Roseanne's by the Left. Complainers fail to understand that profanity is not even close to racism, and Roseanne had been warned repeatedly, his wasn't the first time she'd been so disgustingly racist, and the show lost its head writer and was losing a cast member before the network decided to pull the plug.
Given the coarseness of her epithet of choice (and there are plenty of alternatives that would have been fit for purpose), I'm of the opinion that she should be sanctioned. Having said that, there is no equivalency with Barr's racist tweet (one in a long line) which had the net effect of deeply and intentionally insulting millions of Americans, rather than the single target of Samantha Bee's tirade. Of course, the episode does give the far Right ammunition to complain even further about the imagined liberal bias of the Fake MSM.
Samantha Bee (whoever this woman is) spoke in a misogynistic tone. I have no sympathy if she loses her job.
