We have just as much empathy, if not more, than "normies." We just have trouble with social cues.

I think people believe this because at least in my case. I express my empathy differently and empathize about different things. Just because I empathize with different traumas doesn't mean I lack empathy.

OI! Bloody 'normies' indeed. NT's please some of us are neurotypicals! Hahaha...
I try to train my staff to understand exactly what you have written. We are all humans and we are all different 'when you have met one person with autism, you have met one person with autism'.
We NT's more readily conform to each others ideals of normality. When we process an event, we close our minds to our true feelings and go along with the socialised actions of our cultures.
As a support worker, I still have to make some of the people I support conform to my 'will'. There is a lot of that going on with Covid regualtions changing often.
