So happy to find this group. I have Hashimoto's disease and now I have some sort of "unidentified autoimmune disease". It acts like Celiacs but doesn't have the same genetic markers as Celiacs so they don't know what it is. The struggle is real. Currently my thyroid is all out of whack so we are working on getting my medication levels right. And now with this new disease I can't eat gluten. I don't know why my body is attacking itself. I wish I could make it stop.

I saw my endo yesterday and he listed my auto immune disorders then paused and said he was sorry my body was doing this. It was so compassionate I started to cry a bit.

Don't we all wish our bodies would stop that lol. I'm currently scheduled for genetic testing. Ive got a multitude of things I want them to look for. Autoimmune diseases suck, especially when you don't know what it is. I've known I've had one for many, many years but never had the insurance to go about getting it figured out. We know I have hidraddenitis suppertiva which is an autoimmune disease, and I've always had severe allergies which develop constantly to new things, but I'm 99.9% sure now it's mast cell activation syndrome which goes hand in hand with my Ehlers-danlos syndrome. Mother and I also have classic fibro.

We are currently trying to figure out if I have parkin syndrome (a genetic form of parkinsons that develops earlier in life than the normal kind. Ozzy Osborne has this specific type)

It's a shit show but it's life. Hope you can get your autoimmune figured out and back on track.

Vegan lifestyle

StevenB83 Level 4 July 13, 2018

Anti-inflammatory lifestyle works better for Autoimmune Disorders, as a general rule. I eat Paleo/Keto, and it helps a lot.

Veganism is contraindicated for people with mitochondrial dysfunction, which includes many people with autoimmunity. We need more B vitamins and L-carnitine in their bioactive forms.

You do what works for you, but please stop pretending Veganism is a cure-all. It nearly killed me.

@TaraMarshall it was a question. I was curious how you ate. Also what is anti inflammatory lifestyle?

@vita thank you so much.

@StevenB83,
Lots of non-starchy vegetables, some free range meat and eggs, and a little fruit, mostly low in fructose, such as berries. Some nuts.

No grains, beans, or starchy root vegetables. No processed sugar. No meat raised on a crappy diet.

Be aware that a low functioning Thyroid will cause increased depression.

I'm glad they've caught it.

RavenCT Level 9 July 13, 2018

I've been on anti-depressants since my mom died in 2004. I'm actually pretty level in that department, lol.

My papa had Hashimotos. It was great they caught it because they were originally diagnosing it as thyroid cancer. Gotta say makes Hashimotos sound better after that diagnosis lol. But diagnosis is the hardest part. Now once you get it treated properly you'll be better able to deal with adjustments and getting it back on track.

@LadyAlyxandrea I have Hashimotos - my Dr is a moron and I need to book with an actual Endocrinologist. lol

@RavenCT lol I'm sorry your doctor is a moron.
