Hi, new member. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis on the same day as the Boston Marathon bombing (early reports were playing on the TV set in the waiting room as I was walking out). While primarily a disease common to females, one in eight diagnosed are male. Treatment is simple and effective, albeit a lifelong ordeal.
Wondering if there any others afflicted who would like to communicate. So many people seem to blame every ailment on their "Hashi's" when there could be other unrelated causes.
Welcome @TampaHeathen. I have Lyme disease, not Hashi's. But several of the Lyme people I know have Hashi's because of Lyme, so it's something I hear about from time to time.
That's interesting because I live in Lyme Central? Will force Dr to run tests again.
Lyme testing is notoriously inaccurate, particularly for old infections. [lymedisease.org]
Sorry, one autoimmune disorder I don't have. So far.
One of my sister's suffers from it. I know it gave her many problems, but she seems to have most of them under control, now.
Wish you health and wellness, if you believe in wishes, which I don't, but I seriously wish you the best. It is so hard to know what to say when you sincerely want to wish someone well who is an anthiest. Can't say I'll pray for you, god bless, my prayers are with you, sending you positive vibes. Nonetheless, I wish you the best.
I've been arguing with my Doctor about this very thing as I was diagnosed with Hashimodo's thyroidistis in my early 20's. Treated with antibiotics at the time.
And still have low thyroid but no idea what the implications are of having been diagnosed with the Hashimodo's?
Perhaps someone who knows more will come along?
