I have hidradenitis suppurativa. I am trying elimination diet to find out if there are any foods that might be triggering my flare ups. The doc wants me to try Humira. Not gonna happen! To scared of the side effects. Is there anyone here that has this?
HS was an initial diagnosis for me, but I haven't had an outbreak since going gluten free for Celiac Disease 16 years ago. I still have some scars on my underarms.
Haven't had that condition, but I have been on Humira.
I was actually part of a clinical trial back in the early 2000s, but it was in
relation to my eye condition. I didn't have any side-effects, it helped as a
stop-gap treatment for my eyes while I was participating (a little over a year), and
it cleared up my psoriasis (which hasn't flared up in over 10 years). Getting the injections wasn't fun, but it was over quick enough.
It was definitely a much better treatment than being on prednisone (talk
about side-effects--that stuff is absolutely insidious), cyclosporin, and methatrexate.
Good luck finding the right treatment.
Prednisone and methotrexate did absolutely nothing for me
At 11 I was told I could take embral or methotrexate (after 5 years needing a liver transplant cuz methotrexate is so hard on your body) I opted for the shot of embral, was on it for 7 years, stopped working completely went to humira for about 4 years again stopped working completely and now on Stalara for my psoriasis. Wish I could go without a flare up for 10 years!
