i guess we're pretty fortunate on Van isle. got in 9 holes of golf today in 10C+ temps & the sun was out for a while although very low in the sky.

Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.Cold but white and bright in the Thousand Islands of Ontario, I do miss the Comox Valley but not in January and February where the sun is hidden by rain clouds for weeks at a time. It was nice to step out my back door and tee up for a quick round at Crown Isle .

@callmedubious I was one of the original custom builders there, the gold plated fire hydrants were a bit OTT but the course was great.
@Surfpirate, to be quite honest it's not one of my favorite courses. played it a few times many years ago. i much prefer the old style course layouts which are carved out of the trees. e.g. Storey Creek. i find with courses like CI there are some tees where you don't have a straight line & can see more than one green. i much prefer my little home course Memorial in QB. just 9 holes but some of the best scenery/ocean views on the island & although short still a pretty good test of golf.
@callmedubious To be fair I haven't played C.I. since the mid 90's when I was still building there. Crown Isle was one of two golf course projects that I was involved with, the second was Belmont Hills in Bermuda which is also quite open but being in Bermuda it is hard not to have an amazing view.
@Surfpirate , was in bermuda many decades ago on a navy ship. i ever get there again i might check out that course.
On PEI I should still have my mower out

spent 2 yrs at Summerside In the Air Force. i was a meteorological tech & remember harsh winters. but when springtime came it was very nice except for all the blackflies, no-see-ems & mosquitoes.
i can remember sitting in the weather office on the base & noticing the much warmer winter temps on van isle. i was lucky enough to get transferred to Victoria in 1975 & have been on the island ever since.
@callmedubious well I'd be hard pressed to find a windier or more exposed place on PEI than CFB Summerside LOL. But winters aren't what they used to be anymore either
