Rights & Freedoms.. human, civil or otherwise are completely at the whim of the Times. We all saw first hand how quickly the "right" to go into a grocery store without a mask just simply didn't exist. While the "right to NOT wear a mask" is not a specifically chartered "Right" NOT wearing a mask came with penalties and punishments. And it happened quickly.
To the best of my knowledge the ability to receive an abortion legally in Canada is not a "Right" per se. though there are strong arguments made for it to be seen as such. Nor at the moment is there a codified statute. We rely on general consensus to allow the procedures to occur, with Provincial outliers.. ( Yes. looking at you PEI ).. who have adamantly and forcefully restricted access.This is allowed as a direct result the "Times" the islanders live in. They are not the same Times as for Ontarians or BC'ers.
This lack of clear statement either in Charter or Statute puts abortion very strongly on an Uncertain footing.. in my opinion.
