@Lukian My wife too, I think the maternal side (what other side can you truly trust?) goes back to the 1600's - Archambois. One of the original Seigneuries. My people came later in Red Coats but stayed because the women are so tres beau.

@Lukian Aren't most of the old families? My roots only go back to 1753 but I still consider myself a Canadian Canadian which tends to miff the more recent arrivals who don't believe anyone can be truly Canadian.
@Surfpirate We have an expression in Québec i.e. Québecois pure laine which means pure wool Québecer. I can't trace any part of my family to the filles du roi or the original colonist but we have native blood, French, Brit and some German...Never dove too much in the family history that much.
