Depending upon how ambitious you are there are several provincial parks that offer places to day hike Bon Echo Provincial Park with ancient hieroglyphs on the rocks or Sandbanks Provincial Park offers moderate trails and a huge sandy beach right in wine country near Picton. For the more ambitious who want a multi day hike there is the 387 km Rideau Trail that runs between Kingston and Ottawa. Take the boat tour of the Thousand Islands and you will sail right past my house.

@jellyfish You're welcome, I used to Volunteer for the Ontario Trail Patrol so I have a little more info about the topic than most, just be aware that many trails a multi use in Ontario and geared towards people with snowmobiles in the winter as well as horseback riders, cyclists and ATV's in the summer so you will encounter a lot of straight flat stretches outside of the provincial parks.

Nothing between Montreal and Toronto is quite flat and boring. Outside that axis there is:
the Niagara escarpment is a nice place

Also Algonquin park.

It is if you are driving the distance on the 401 but there are plenty of things to see if you get off the expressway.
