Icy weather has me cooped up in the house but as a kid I loved icy weather for just this reason.

It's just that time of year, no wonder there are no cheap flights going south just now. 
@Surfpirate We can't travel, & wouldn't leave the house empty in these temps anyway.
We'd also never go to the US again....unless that idiot is run out on a rail.

I hear you, used to live in Calgary and remember crossing my fingers in hopes that a Chinook would blow in and take that pall of a deep freeze off of the city.
A ferry froze solid on the west coast a litteral ice boat.
