My almost 17 year old cat was sort of lethargic and hiding away until I put out this boot box. She sleeps, sits and rolls in it and tears the tissue paper. It’s like a fountain of youth!

Boxes feel protective / safe to kitties . At this age , and with her symptoms , you may want to take her to her vet , You may want to consider putting her box in a sunny place .

Why do you assume that the cat is not taken to the vet?
My neighbor's cat is pretty lethargic except that she loves playing with tissues also.
