Reminds me of the 1957 Costa Plan for Brasilia. Didn't live up to expectations, however.

The Venus Project does seem pretty cool, but I agree that it will probably not come to reality within the foreseeable future. Too many little inconsistencies, too many underlying assumptions that can be brought into question.
But one thing that bugs me about this video, is that these guys, usually with a hard science background, never seem to put in any real research into economics or philosophy before they speak on them. I hope the coursework that he suggested is a little bit more informative, but he butchered the use of the words capitalism, socialism, and communism. ?
