I've lived too long. When I was a young "Baby Boomer", the only men I saw with elective baldness were Yul Brenner, Telly Savalas, and Neo-Nazis and white supremacist types, and my attitudes regarding the latter groups were formed by the behavior they projected. Even African Americans had hair on their heads and I thought the "Afro" look showed an attitude of independence and protest. Now People of color wouldn't be caught dead with hair on their head. Nowadays, based on those early impressions I find it difficult to discard my prejudice. I simply do not understand why men currently think it is attractive to shave all of the hair off their heads (except for, perhaps a little patch on top, reflecting a militarist or authoritarian attitude) but it's OK to have a beard ending in absurdly pointed reverse sideburns! In my youth, "Skinhead" was a derisive term for reasons that were quite obvious. Is it that young people now don't know what that look used to mean or do they want to project an appearance of domination, aggression, "don't fuck with me" or simply extreme right-wing political views. Let me know what your opinion is on this issue as I, at 71 I am still "letting my freak flag fly" and I don't give a shit who thinks I'm out of style! I think anybody looks better with hair on their head.
well as a man , I Do see the convenience of shaving and have no thought one way or the other. However I do get the attraction thing for admirers. Such as with women, when I see a woman with a load of make up, I am immediately turned off. she can be drop dead beautiful but I remain so turned off due to the makeup.
Now someone with a natural look I find very attractive, very attractive. Perhaps baldness has it;s own audience also
I agree, and another aspect of todays "fashions" that totally confounds me. Why is it OK for young women to dress (even in High School) in incredibly revealing and tight-fitting clothes (even if they are disgustingly obese!) but men aren't allowed to reveal any skin between the crotch and the ankles?! And, in their attempts to look as slovenly and grungy as possible, these same women I just mentioned fawn all over them? Modern Americans are complete slobs, but apparently that's what the opposite sex wants!
Of course male pattern baldness is caused by excess testosterone, as men age. My wife thinks bald guys are hot. If I can't have the extra testosterone though, I'm keeping the hair. Fortunately, testosterone comes in a tube now anyway. Our thoughts create (or at least color) our subjective world, just don't think about skin heads unless you have to, and can do something about it.
and some of those black bald men are so yummy not all lol and young white dudes OMG they often do it cause of balding or thinning
and some its the look they need hair would make the ordinary but bald they are usually awesome
I think men look better with a shaved head than classic male pattern baldness, but certainly don't associate it with any political affiliation. I don't think young people give the first fuck about what used to be in or out of style, and good for them.
Yea I'm 61 . I don't get it either
it can be a real turn on as opposed to half bald or the long hair like gallrger where the top is totally bald
Looks like we're the only ones!
Not everyone can have a full head of hair. Aside from that who cares what something so superficial of a trait as your haircut even is?
I don't really care how people dress either... Girls can wear whatever they want, as well as guys!
my brother sure did he was bald early and got a toupee he hated being balding
I have another brother that was bald in his 20's just some fringe he never seemed to care
You totally miss my point. Of course if you lose your hair, you can't help it. And don't wear a wig! I'm talking about a trend that is (in my opinion) inspired by right-wing political atitudes. So much so that most people who project that style voted for a fascist who has a big orange fake head of hair! Even Yul Brenner usually was type-cast as a "heavy". By the way, I am partially bald. Modern day Americans
I don't have a preference at all...it is getting harder to judge a book by its cover, so I don't. Most people bring more to the table than what is on top of their heads...
I like the look of 100% bald. I also like partially bald when the rest of the hair is very short. The look holds zero connotations to me.
And I'll bet you voted for Donald Trump, too. You can not possibly understand what I'm saying.
@fishline79 And, I'll bet your arrogant self doesn't bother to to read a profile before writing some assumptive bullshit like this.
Contrary to what you apparently believe, you are not better than, or more handsome than, any man out there who is bald just because you have hair. In fact, with your attitude, you have zero attractiveness.
If I had a full head of hair I'd let it grow out . I'd rather buzz it all off than comb over , Anyone that knows me knows that I;m far from being a skin head . Far more comfortable and easy to care for . I don't get the stubble beard so popular nowadays , I remember when Yassar Arafat was the only one in mainstream view with one .
the beard thing is very sexy
Yeah, that's another one! Totally style. Everybody tries to make a statement of individuality and ends up being just one more sheep! It is all about television and Social Media.
I love very long hair on both males and females, a
