I had a professor in college who ran ultramarathons, etc. I knew he had a 24 hour running event coming up one weekend... A little over a week later I saw him and asked him how he had done.
Dr. Williams) "Not very well. I only ran 118 miles. I had a little bit of diarrhea the whole time."
Smart ass me)"118 miles? I think I'd have had the shits too!"
On a serious note... At distances like this do you take regular breaks? Change shoes? Or just keep trudging along since you are trying to trip the tape asap, instead of an even longer event like my professor's 24 hours endurance run? I got the feeling he had regular stops, gear changes, meals, etc planned from our discussion. His illness messed up his schedule, as diarrhea tends to do!
No regular stops. Short breaks to take in fruit and soda at the aid stations and then keep moving. No gear changes.
Wow ? running isn’t too high on my list, that’s amazing.

Posted by SilviaParkI had my first triathlon in Sunday, an indoor USATri60. Lots of room for improvement, but I'm just a beginner swimmer, and haven't taken my bike on the road yet :)
