I think we have seen the advertisements everywhere to get your protein intake. Every product out there has protein anymore, or so it seems. The actual recommendation for the amount of protein you should ingest. About 4 oz 3 times daily. That's it. Any excess is flushed through the kidneys. What do you guys think?

Depends on protein needs. If you're training hard and trying to put muscle on a good rule of thumb is from 1 gram of protein per lb. of lean tissue up to 1 gram per lb. of overall body weight. Bodybuilders and weight trainers have been doing this for over 60 yrs. and the medical research community started verifying it 20-30 yrs. ago. If you're not training hard then it would probably make more sense to measure your protein intake as a percentage of your daily calorie intake. Around 30-60%. There is no hard and fast rule that your body can only take in so much protein at one time.
