Thank You. I was not born into the Mormon faith. When we moved into Idaho Fals, ID, I found that all activities in the area were centered around the LDS church. At first I found it fascinating. My wife and I got baptized and joined the church. I was made a scoutmaster of their Boy Scout troop and got to know some very fine people. But neither my wife nor I ever really bought in to the tenets of the church. We attended for a little over a year and became "Jack Mormons" Mormons in name only. Eventually, we resigned from the church. We were pleased to not experience any of the shunning, etc. but it was obvious to us that the Joseph Smith philosophy was self-serving and misogynistic. There was so much hypocrisy in the church, too.

As a school counselor, I had , on two occasions (two different kids), reports that "Daddy" was molesting. I was told that I should call the bishop to report it. I did in both instances, In both cases, the father's suffered no consequences from the church. It was covered up. Of course, I also reported it to the Child Protection Dept. of the state. When they stepped in and removed the fathers from their homes, I actually got a call from one of the Bishops "chewing me out" I stood my ground and he hung up on me. About a week later, he called to apologize. It sounded like a forced apology, by I accepted it, nevertheless. I found the people (Mormons) to be very fine people, but the dogma and the church leaders were deplorable. I felt like it was an empire of wealth with it's forced tithes and investments.
