Probably preachin' to the choir, but ya'll do know the difference between green slime and red tide, right?
I have read that green algae is in all of our freshwater lakes and rivers. Caused by runoff. Red tide is natural and found along our coasts. This red tide has been a problem for only about a year now. Green algae since around May, I think. Our beloved governor just recently declared red tide an emergency.
Blue green algae is the killer. Caused by runoff of fertilizer etc. Green slime is just Spirogyra. Blue green algae is more of a serious thing.
Actually Red tides have plagued Florida for years.
