A good discussion of the situation with climate change in Florida.
Ironically, Florida, while being one of the first states to be inundated by the sea, is also in danger of running out of available drinking water. As water management districts continue to issue pumping permits to bottling companies, and developers, the Floridan aquifer goes down each year - until one day .... "poof" no more.
This is true.
Like all men's dysfunctions--the massacres, the wars, the destruction of our environment-- it is a frustrating mess, isn't it?
The worse part is it is so easily ameliorated by common cause and action, yet there is a political faction, and a percentage of the population, which makes an ideological religion of individuality, both out of miguided sincerity and as a cover for greedy selfishness.
But you already know that.
This is what we've lost: the willingness to make individual sacrifices for the good of the commonweal. This is the real damage the Ayn Rands of the world have wrought.
