[facebook.com] Chemicals in Florida water. Not sure how DEP allows it?
It's happening all over the country - and will happen more as this administration chops away at existing protective laws. Florida has water issues on many fronts. Pollution. Over-pumping. Major wasteful habits. And already stretched supply. And so many moving here haven't got a clue - as well as many that grew up here !
Developers have been buying up the land of older golf courses that went out of business. The developers are finding the land is unbuildable due to the toxic nature of the land from repeated pesticides and fertilizers that have been used on the land for decades. I live near the Villages where 40+ golf courses and perfectly manicured lawns rule the day. All of these pesticides and fertilizers are spilling into the local aquifer. This cannot be good for the local nature down the road.
You mean the EPA?
Normally they regulate what goes into the waters.
@kimlaleona that would be the FDEP
@Mofo1953 same difference. At my job nobody says FDEP. We just say DEP because every state has one. I work for the water department. I should have not abbreviated it and made it easier to understand.
@kimlaleona i live in Florida too, all Florida Departments have the F in front, like the FDOT for example, to just give you one.
