These are my two tats. I posted a pic of them in a comment thread outside of this group, but these are better images. I'm a late bloomer to tattoos. I got my first one about 4 years ago and the second roughly two years later. My artist is a guy named Shawn Mahaffey. I think he can do just about anything. The Tiki tat was a collaboration between the two of us that he was instrumental in evolving to the point you see here. I have a deep love of Hawaii and the tat is a representation of the Hawaiian Tiki God, Lono, who's supposed to be the god of love and fertility. The cosmos above and the rainbow are elements of his (or her?) origin story. Lono supposedly descended from the heavens on a rainbow. To be clear, I don't believe any of that hooey, but I love the idea of Lono and ya gotta admit, it looks Hawaiian. =]
Groot? You may ask? Well, I got him because I love the character. He values family above all else (sacrifices himself in the film to save his "family" ), yet he's tough and surprisingly expressive using only 3 words (guess what they are. LOL!). This image of Groot is captured from a particular moment in the film (Guardians of the Galaxy, if you're not familiar with the character). So that's me.
I'm considering maybe getting 1 or 2 more tats. Possibly a Baby Groot, and/or Grumpy (the Disney Dwarf). I have always loved Grumpy and Disney.
