Bought a busted up SG a few months ago for pretty cheap (had previously posted a picture of it, but reposting to compare) and finally got around to patching and refinishing. Even if I had the chunk of wood that was missing to make it aesthetically nearer to perfect, it wouldn't have been structurally sound, so I patched it with epoxy instead and dyed the epoxy red. Sanded through the grits down to 2000 and called it good enough. Put a pre wired harness in, added a neck pickup, and grounded the bridge better than it was. Third pic is a guitar I got for my daughter for her birthday. The girl I bought it from just got off tour with Jawbreaker, she sold this after getting a tele. She wrote a sweet note and included her band (Pohgoh) CDs and stickers and a t shirt.

SG's were never really my thing to play, but I have had myriad friends that swore by them.
One of my most idolized players played one (Toni Iomni) "Black Sabbath". I've been more of a Strat/ Ibanez player. but I've come to love the Guitar for what it is.And Even I have to admit that it's a work of art.
Cudos for you snagging one.

Thanks man! Preference is a funny thing. I've never been into strats or ibanez, I've had both. Well, I loved my ibanez acoustic but not the electric. This is my first Gibson guitar, but I also have an episode SG, and they're all I play most of the time. Thinking about even selling a couple other guitars that just don't see play time. This rebuild is now my go to. I thought I might fix it and sell it, but I can't put it down.
