I have just one Orchid, it always had eight flowers in the past but this time it has two short stems growing from the top of the one main stem each with two flowers, making a total of twelve blooms, is this normal? As I have never seen this before... I assume at least some gardeners have Orchids even if it is not in the garden...

Yes it's normal they sometimes will send out fresh shoots.

After it ends it's blooming cycle you need to watch if any stems die back... If they do then you clip it back.

But that's for another day. Today - Enjoy your extra blooms - it's a happy plant! 💜
