I seem to have created a monster. When we first moved here there was a smallish crabapple tree. It was engulfed with a wisteria but was a bit unusual in that it had purple leaves and tiny, berry sized fruit. I cleared the wisteria and constantly battle the many suckers and do an annual pruning. Now I am ‘rewarded’ with a monster that wants to take over. Still, it’s a beautiful tree and short enough to not block the sun from a grafted plum next to it. Believe it or not but some of the green foliage within the crab is a rose reaching for the sun.
