I think that the trade war is going to send Rare Earth elements, mineral skyrocketing. Mr. Trump perhaps does not realize China controls 90% of the trade of REE which we need to produce batteries and electronics like our missile guidance systems for the military. They have begun manufacturing a new battery for cars that get up to 400 plus miles to a charge, it needs those Rare Earth Elements too. We do not have them If China put a tariff on them up goes the price worse yet if they ban the sales of them then what? I am looking into getting some stock in this area? Normally I just trade options but I think I will go with the stock.

Tesla bought Maxwell, a company that developed battery tech without using cobolt, with lower mfg costs, and higher power/weight than current Li-Ion. Tesla has been given preferential treatment by China since building the Shanghai gigafactory. Moreover, it has a contract with a big Chinese battery manufacturer. Though, Tesla is the biggest buyer of Li cells, I think it will not suffer from the tariffs, but others will.

Good point. But if they were to add tariffs would not that hurt the companies you would invest in?

Nivida depends heavily on these ,. I suspect they will still get them through a middle man , who can purchase through another coutry , then profit on the resale .

There are somethings , that even stingy folks like me , will eventually bow to and buy even at a higher price . If I were running a company like Nvida , I'm certain I'd try to stock up in advane of tarriffs and also find indirect sources to buy them from , should China choose to discontinue selling it to the US at all . However , we are a huge market , for them . Although there are a lot of people in China , I wonder what percentage , are well off enough to own such things .

Makes sense to me . So do yoou think someone in another xountry will buy it from China , then sell it at a sizeable profit to the US ?
