That sent me right to Google to look up "Parvenue'': one that has recently or suddenly risen to an unaccustomed position of wealth or power and has not yet gained the prestige, dignity, or manner associated with it.
Margaret Tobin Brown was never known as Molly Brown. It took Hollywood and Debbie Reynolds to stick that name to her. She did, however, survive the voyage on the Titanic!
