My name is Comrade. I live in Victoria BC Canada, the traditional territories of the Lekwungen and Esquimalt peoples. I grew up in Alberta on a beef farm. Became an atheist around 13yo, and identified as a satanist through much of my 20s, but only joined the Satanic Temple a few weeks back. Worked in a collective run bookstore for 10 years, and was very involved in the anarchist movement for a long time, as well as the crust punk scene.

Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.I'm an atheist and, most importantly, an Epicurean philosopher. I have been reading TSB and other Laveyan works. I like much in them, but I'm very turned off by the social Darwinism and the profound, almost pathological, Ayn-Randian disdain for the weak. I feel like those who are less intelligent or less capable can be brought into covenants and relations of mutual benefit that ultimately benefit everyone.
I've learned from both Epicurus and anthropological and other research on human happiness that people need tribe/community, so this Laveyan idealizing of the "lone wolf" is very unhealthy. Isolation has been found to be a health risk on par with obesity and smoking. Our hunter gatherer ancestors over 100's of thousands of years evolved in tribes. So not sure where that puts me, maybe in line with TST, except that I'd have to <a href="[theautarkist.wordpress.com] their activism with my ataraxia</a>. Anyway, I'm still reading and learning. HS
