I think you all might be mistaken. According to dictionary.com benevolence is the desire to do good to others. Throughout the storyline, the deity is portrayed as having that desire. It also conveniently has the ability to redefine goodness...so murderous tirades, blaming people for others mistakes, hypocritically glorifying blood magic, and setting up contradictory expectations, which would lead its worshippers into a perpetual state confusion and fear....are all things the deity redefined as goodness and did to others every chance it could. So in the fictional context in which the deity was created, it was VERY, VERY, VERY 'good' - living up to its desire to do 'good' to others - the image of benevolence. Haha.
