I have a question about diabetes, a subject I pretty much know nothing about, and I hope one of you can help me. Would low sugar cause one to talk incoherently and slur their words?
The brain runs only on glucose. When your blood sugar is low, the brain sends out warning signals. One of them is slurred speech. When my blood sugar falls below 60, my speech center shut down. I cannot speak or ask for help or anything. Very inconvenient.
One of the fastest remedies for me is a spoonful or two of honey under my tongue.
Yes it can. I've seen a good friend get that way with low blood glucose.
Juice can help. Glucose tablets or honey.
A really severe diabetic would nave a rescue kit with an injectable type of sugar).
Even as a type II - I get pretty incoherent when my sugar goes low. But Type I diabetics can go scary low.
It can look like they're drunk to someone not in the know.
Police have made that error with terrible consequences.
