A no deal Brexit could have serious repercussions for next year ‘s Grand National, the British Horseracing Authority warns. The tripartite agreement system that allows the free movement of horses between UK, France and Ireland will cease. Eight Irish trained horses have won since 1999 including this year ‘s winner Tiger Roll which had also triumphed at Cheltenham ...it is stabled and trained in Co.Meath. Next year’s race will come only a month after we leave, and without some deal in place there will be no movement possible.

You're quite right. The Cheltenham Festival will be more severely affected as will the entire horse breeding industry.in the UK.

That's good news. Perhaps the barbaric 'sport of kings' will finally reach its demise!

Maybe so but I doubt it...too much money involved!

We're about crash out of the EU with no deal and demonstrably no one, not now or when leaving was first proposed, can honestly predict the consequences. I'm pretty sure that Irish racehorses were transported before our entry but seriously with all the ramifications, both social and economic who gives a toss?

I was merely thinking that it will hit the rich owners and the betting industry, and perhaps stir up a campaign to get a referendum on the deal. I have no actual interest in horse racing....I always try to look at the bigger picture.

@Marionville The rich will, as they have always have, do whatever they like and if you suggest to the gambling industry that they'll be affected by it the only answer you'll get is " Want a bet on it?"

Will I still be able to see my 3 yr old son is my only concern

Savage Level 7 Aug 26, 2018

I don’t know your personal circumstances so can’t reply to that.

@Marionville We split up due to brexit, she's French. Some of my family voting for it and abuse in the street, she left. And took my son. I'm all for the EU, I voted in, didn't matter., I also smoke weed, as much for pain as anything and she stopped before going, so work it out. If brexit goes through, I will need a Visa and my chance of moving over there becomes impossible, I'm unfit to work. And visas can be refused if you have convictions and I have, some serious, in past. So, how do I see my son if brexit goes through??

@Savage I fee your pain....that is very personal. Do you have any Irish connections? If you have parents or grandparents who were born in Ireland you could apply for an Irish passport. My two sons have already done so.

@Marionville I'm intending to speak to my mother about it as I think I have. Not sure if it was Grand parents or great grand parents. But it is on thing I'm looking into.

@Savage Do it asap.

Yes. Ease of horse torturing is chief amongst my Brexit concerns also.

Just thought if it hits these rich owners pockets,,.we might get a rethink! I have no personal truck with horse racing.

Oh no rich bastards hit where it hurts how will they cope !!!

Simon1 Level 7 Aug 26, 2018

It might wake them up to the horror of no deal when their own class gets hit!

@Marionville they have been shifting funds abroad since the whole mess started they couldn't give a s£😉t !!
