Please tell us exactly how this temporary UK government is playing dirty and who is the instigator?

Brexit - a bunch of rich bastards who don't want to pay taxes or pay their staff decent wages whilst cutting every corner in production costs , convince just enough people that the people they voted to rule the EU weren't really Elected . So they could then put a truly unelected leader in place to carry out their wishes

This is the problem ... a 52% majority of the country voted to leave the EU,
There are 381 voting areas .. 270 returned majority votes in favour of "Leave the European Union", while 129 returned majority votes in favour of "Remain a member of the European Union
But many MPs decided to ignore the instructions given to them and have used parliamentary tactics to make negotiation of a 'good' deal impossible and would prefer to reverse the referendum outcome.
Johnson is now using parliamentary tactics to finalise a divorce from Europe... I believe, if required, he will simply call an election for some time in November and bypass all parliamentary interference moves....but I expect at the end of October a deal will 'magicaaly' be done ... at the last minute, as the EU always negotiates

It was an Advisory Referendum - otherwise a supermajority woulod have been required

@FlettieAdvisory, with a larger turnout than most general elections, larger majority than most general elections yet ignored by most MPs.
UK democracy began to die when MPs like Yvette Cooper stood up and espoused a view directly opposite to her constituents and has actively worked against their wishes.
It will take a generation to recover, if it ever does.

  1. The UK government is not temporary as such, the current ruling party (The Conservatives) having been voted in by general election and as such are able to rule for a period of five years before they must declare a new election (though in certain circumstances, such as losing their majority in the Commons which would prevent them winning debates, an election may be called earlier.) There has, meanwhile, been some talk of installing a temporary government made up of a coalition of Members of Parliament from different parties.

  2. The dirty trick is that the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has effectively circumvented the usual democratic process in order to get what he wants. The whole point of the House of Commons is that the common man or woman elects a representative whom they feel best reflects their views, and that representative then has a say in the House. A large number of the public do not want Britain to leave the European Union (at the time of the referendum, 48% did not and it's believed that number may haver risen. By suspending Parliament, Boris and the pro-Brexit cabinet he put together upon becoming leader of the Conservatives do not have to pay heed to those MPs who are opposed to Brexit and have virtually free rein to do what they want.

  3. Precisely who the instigator/instigators is/are is anyone's guess. However, it's worth noting that Boris and many of his cronies come from very wealthy backgrounds and have vast sums in hedge funds, which stand to massively increase in value as the pound drops in value. That may, of course, be a complete coincidence.

Should have said "Death-wish" or "Kamicarzi" or "Desperate" Government instead of Temporary.

@Mcflewster I'm not sure they're any of those things. I think Boris, Rees-Mogg and a number of other wealthy Conservatives, possibly along with some outsiders such as Nigel Farage and Arron Banks, had all this planned a long time ago. They all stand to make a very large amount of money from Brexit.

@Jnei This money making point should be shouted from the rooftops. Thanks.

The number wishing to remain at this moment in time will undoubtedly be swelled by many of those young people who have become eligible to vote as they reached the right age in 2017, 2018, 2019.

The number wishing to leave will have decreased as older voters, more likely to have voted "Leave" in 2016, have gradually died during 2017, 2018, 2019.

In my mind, this means we are now more likely to be, and increasingly be, a "Remain" country for the foreseeable future. Time will tell.

This proroguing is a perfectly normal parliamentary procedure during Party conference season, the closing of parliament for 4 to 10 days to allow for the government to take instruction (at least in theory) from the respective party memberships.
What is NOT normal is to prorogue the queen to close parliament so early and for so long a period of time as to effectively cripple the government in the run up to a major political event, prevent debate and allow for dictatorial rule by the prime minister.

This is like saying that it is perfectly normal to open another airway in case of blockage in the throat - you can do it every day!

@Mcflewster WTF? That is not what I said at all. There is more than historical precedent for how and when and for what length of time proroguing may be acceptable, what Boris has done is basically treasonous, where it not for tradition and her great age, the queen should have been expected to decline the request and might well have done so in years gone by.

The shadowy figure of Dominic Cummings...the chief strategist of the Leave Campaign, and now advisor to Boris, this has his signature all over it. His mantra in the referendum was, play dirty, tell whopping lies, and keep doing it! It worked, as it’s based on the “Goebbels Principle” ( tell a big lie often enough and people will believe it). I don’t think Boris, clever though he is with words, has got any real plan for the future except get us out of the EU on 31st.October by any and all means possible....Cummings is supplying the means.

Let us get Cummings somehow in front of public questioning. Not easy I suspect to 'nail' him. How about a second Cumming?

@Mcflewster Yes...!

@Mcflewster I daresay the security people have all his emails, but how to get them made public is the problem.

@Red_Cat Any politician (and that is what he is trying to be by tagging on to this clown) should be open and transparent and actually invite in reporters and anyone who can seamlessly communicate with the public.

@Mcflewster I know. But "should" is not in this person's vocabulary. He has proved that.

@Mcflewster Cummings has already shown almost complete contempt for the paliamentary process - trouble is there is no crime in ignoring parliament

@Flettie This is true here in UK but Australia has compulsory voting. Do they know better than us?
