It is quite simple. UK Tories have been plagued with Brexit ideas pushed forward from extremists in their party for decades. PMs even departed partly because of these difficulties. In desperation Cameron allowed an unfair referendum .No provision was made for close results. They gave up working as a broad church reasonable and consensus seeking party. The referendum result was unexpected and the declared brexiteers took advantage of the shock the country was in to pass ‘unthought out promises’ and some illegal practices past the general public. In other words the Conservatives were caught up in the wrong way of solving all this. It relied on a small but growing faction to push it through. The Labour Party reacted in some wrong doing also particularly about promises. However they have always and will continue to do things the right way all the time trying to keep both factions on their side and giving wherever possible a choice in solving the problem. They could only do this as they were not in a position to take control of the way forward. I would point out that NO-ONE can see into the future and whatever the politicians propose has to be taken sensitively I.e KNOWING that anything could still happen. If you want to comment you have to avoid talking about any future certainties unfortunately . Just talk about the proper law abiding and fair way of doing things.
Please be specific about which words or phrases you disagree with in this analysis.
I would have to disagree with the first four words. "it's quite simple"
In the immortal words of Dr Ben Goldacre "I Think You’ll Find It’s a Bit More Complicated Than That"
One key part you missed out was when "Call me Dave" uttered those famous words "Why should I do all the Hard Shit"
The mandate for our future then passed from a close referendum result to the Tory Party grass roots towards whom potential leaders would need to pander. The Boris Johnson who set our his stall the day after the referendum, before Dave quit, was a vastly more conciliatory figure than the bombast we see today.
OK it was my attempt to get it past those words without admitting your point. People are often put off by those first few words. This is not a challenge but can you make it simpler? Simplification is an inherent science principle.
@Mcflewster indeed it is. But with caveats. Again I borrow words from those wiser than myself. I'll try but ultimately I think a good angle is to examine the tensions between different democratic decision making processes.
@MattHardy GOOD! Then you make a change in your hypothesis for change. Science is a revolving set of processes which you keep spinning until things do get better for everyone. What is your suggestion for a better hypothesis?
@Mcflewster I started to reply but it became a post in it's own right [agnostic.com]
