Who on earth can replace him?

He jumped before he lost his seat in the next election when, against convention, candidates will be standing against him. Why? Because the speaker is supposed to be utterly impartial. Bercow has been taking sides.

Personal I don't feel that preventing perversion of the parliamentary process to favour one side over the other or to prevent a subversion of democracy by a dictatorial succession of prime ministers "bias" I see it as him doing his job.
However since the Telegraph has decided to take the line that Bercow doing so was some how undemocratic, they were bound to have a few people agree with them.

I can imagine that, if somebody pushed, Bercow would have pushed back harder.

It’s all a total dog’s breakfast very cleverly contrived to make sure everyone keeps their eye off the ball.

Is there some folktale about the mouse that sits underneath the kings throne who knows everything by listening and so knows all that is happening without being observed.

According to Foucault knowledge is power so the most powerful person in the kingdom is the mouse, in plain sight but out of mind!

Therein lies the answer I suspect

I often wonder who is more dangerous
He who knows much but understands little
or
He who understands much but knows almost nothing
